On April 9, 2005 the IV traditional Sambo Junior tournament “Kurinnoy Cup” was held in “Boretz” sports school. After 2 years “Sambo-70” has returned the Cup Title to their club. It is hard to single out an athlete or a team in their striving for the victory. All the bouts went in a sharp, and what is most important - in almost equal fight. The outcome of the meet literary depended on every wrestler and could be determined in every bout having become the result of some false step or wrong move. The team from Torzhok was very well prepared, the one that gave us the winner of Kurinnoy Cup in 2002, was this time in a half-step from the final. Last year champion “Piter” lost only 1 point to reach the final.
The team from Belarus (Brest region), debutant at the competitions, made the coaches of the rival teams tickle their nerves. The finals by their nerve-strain and sharpness did not make the exclusion.
As if repeating the year of 2002, the best young athletes from the world-known “Sambo-70”centre and the hosts of the mat – the boys from “Boretz” school. They didn’t have the right to make a mistake and eagerly tried to avoid any chance, may be that is why technically the fight was not very bright but emotionally it was unusually tense struggle. In the middle of the meet it was hard to foresee the result. The advantage went to the one side, then to the other. Though “Boretz” came to the decisive meet with one defeat (the athlete in 48 kg weight category was eliminated because of the injury), up to the middle weights the outcome was highly unpredictable. Heavy weights, who were more agile in “Sambo-70”, made the final decision. The score of the 2005 finals was 6:3 in favour of “Sambo-70”.
The fourth time in the row “Boretz” won silver for its museum. We will train hard to take revenge at the next year Cup and do hope it will be golden to us.
